So this will be the last blog I write before I get into the field. Which is really crazy it feels like just yesterday I was applying for this trip! It feels like just yesterday I needed to raise $11,900 dollars. Feels like just yesterday I was starting high school. Well now it's Monday and I leave on Friday. I leave to go on a journey of a lifetime! People ask me if I'm excited and When that question gets asked I can't help but think of how excited I truly am! But at the same time I have so many mixed emotions, I am excited but I am also really nervous and really scared and ready to see how God works through me.
As I leave to go on this trip I am leaving everything behind my family, friends, comfort zone, the food I love so much, and the culture of Canada. However I am ready to make new friends that will last a lifetime I am ready to try new foods and I am ready to experience new cultures. But most of all I am ready to experience God like never before.
I don't know what exactly I will be doing in these countries I don't exactly know where I'm going while I am in these countries but what I do know is this: God called me to this trip for a reason and I just want to be obedient. I dont want to look back in life and regret things because I said no to God. I am ready to go and be like Jesus. I'm not going because I want to bring fame to myself, or to show how much better I am then the people I will come in contact with. Im going because Jesus calls us to be fishers of men. Jesus told his disciples before he left that they/us will do greater things then he ever did. Well let me tell you something that is not going to happen when we just stay in our own little comfort zone bubbles. We have to go and be like Jesus. You don't need to go around the world to be like Jesus all you need to do is open your eyes to the things around you and listen to God as he speaks to you and guides you each day.
Over the past 4-5 months I have realized that life goes by fast and we need to make the most of every opportunity because before we know it those opportunities will be no more. Anyways I just wanted to leave that as my last blog before I leave. I am really excited and I am so glad that you guys can take this journey with me by reading my blogs i means a lot and I know life is busy and it is always hard to remember to read things so thank you for taking time out of your day to read my blogs once or twice a week! Depending on wifi access.
God Bless and I will see you guys when I return 🙂
Love yours truly RILEY HEATH
